Wk #1 Journey to IT Position

After 6yrs away from PC gaming, I'm committing to abstaining from mobile games to come back to the PC Master race. Finally freed up time and will be working on building IT skills full time..

Top Priority: Prep for OSCP - APR/May

1) HTB - Academy

2) HTB - Retired Machines + Walkthrough

3) After enough confidence, start going after retired/live machines w.o walkthroughs

4) Hacker Rank Paths + HTB Live Machines

5) Bash / Python / Powershell  / Nmap / Burp Free / Regex+Grep+Find+Awk+Sed / Listen to CyberMentor on idling/free time

If I'm not feeling confident on my progress, I will be getting these along the way:

1) Network+ Mid December

2) Fortinet 1, 2, 3, Late December/Early Jan

3) Azure Fundamentals + Associate / AWS Cloud Practitioner + Associate

I'll be taking a similar format of my daytrading journals here for the IT blog...

______________________________________________________________________

End of Week Goals:

Go through 10 retired boxes while improving my process + methodologies...

Go through 3 modules of HTB Academy...

30min run or walk per day !!!

My workplace.. I gotta tidy up but this is post-fixing my old gaming laptop. Will be upgrading my main laptop to 32gb and see any performance changes..

Dec 1st week MANTRA is
Live off the land && HACK THESE BOXES !!

Discipline is a lagging indicator.  Focus on your behavior in the NOW moment.

Learning Lesson:  Listen to Emotion > Change my state > ASK QUESTIONS > Focus on the process/grind.  Shrug it off and keep moving forward !!

PREMEDITATIO MALORUM

FEAR SETTING / FEAR REHEARSAL for the week:
DEFINE ----------------------------- PREVENT ----------------------------- Repair

1)  Lose Focus ---------------- Maintain/Expand Daily Habits --- Shrug it off and get back on track !!
2)  Frustration ---- Acknowledge running into obstacles ahead of time ----- Walk it off 15mins, get back

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PARTIAL SUCCESS:

1) As long as I remain resilient and refine my systems--I am one step closer to OSCP

Accept the emotions and no longer identify with them.  It's much easier to see things in the external world without passing judgement on them..

*Personal* Cybersecurity- Training for OSCP

Note: I write this blog mostly for myself, I'll have a topic title that will let ya know if the post will be journal-ish/personal. This is one of them so feel free to skip.

I'm taking a break from daytrading for a year or two. I've taken several breaks in the past before, it's just been a crazy year for everyone with all the profitable traders I know beating their personal records. Even Dux (My mentor) just broke 7digits in one month this June which is insane. $1.1 million in a month, he just made more in 1 month than some people will save up in a lifetime. I know a lot of 6 figure traders making their way towards their 7figure/yr mark as well. I've also reached a level that I could only dream about before--setting new PR's but it's also opened my eyes that I'm reaching my boundaries in current skill level/emotional management. And that I'd rather be doing something else while I'm young. Anyways, here is Dux's June recap:

RIP my old blog: https://daytradingprogress.blogspot.com/

During the spring, when I was about to interview for Galvanize's Data Science Immersion program to further my data analytic skills/algorithmic trading/quant skills. Vet Tec ran out of funds and a friend introduced me to Cyber Security. At first, I couldn't believe this was a real thing--alot of the concepts were stuff I already knew about as hobbies when I was young. Fastforwarding a few months to today, I'm in Divergence Academy's Pentesting Bootcamp that'll finish in March. I'm planning on taking the OSCP around March/April so I'll be journaling my progress here.. Probably on either a weekly, daily basis or per box that I root. It will all just depend on what I feel like.

Current Goals til Dec:
- Go through Hackthebox's Academy

- Go through Hackthebox's Challenges

- Go through Hackthebox's Easy/Medium Boxes

- TryHack me stuff as backup/extra content
